Quick note:
We have had many conversations over these last few weeks. If you have questions about the current market, our strategy, your portfolio, or you just want to say hi – please call! We always enjoy talking to you! And thank you to the many of you who have reached out and expressed your gratitude and trust in us and in the process we have created.
“What’s going on?”
A lot of conversations have started this way and the second question is “What’s up with toilet paper?”
We don’t have an answer to toilet paper but here are some of our thoughts during this time. The virus is something unexpected, but it doesn’t mean your portfolio is unprepared.
There are a lot of unknowns and uncertainty is an enemy of the market. As we always say, we believe in the short-term emotion takes over but in the long term the fundamentals move the market. That’s where we are focusing our attention, what are the numbers indicating.
These are indeed unsettling times. However, we believe, there are four areas for optimism.
1. We Adapt – The United States is a resilient country and history demonstrates that we can adjust and move forward.
2. Markets have worked – liquidity has been under a microscope, but the market is working.
3. Policymakers are acting – Partisan politics may be pushed aside at least for a moment to help the country move forward.
4. Opportunity on the other side – The U.S. economy was in a very robust position just a few months ago. Entering the unknown on a strong footing may help shorten the troubles and we believe create opportunities for new growth and business.
In other words, this too shall pass. And we are very hopeful for a bright future.
Because many of our clients may be at high-risk for the Coronavirus, for the next several weeks (maybe longer) we will be doing all our meetings over the telephone or virtually. (We are trying out some new software.) Please don’t hesitate to call.
Until then, enjoy the wonders of technology to connect with those you love.
