End of year planning questions:

Asking end of year questions a few months early is a good way to end the year with a bang.  Because if you do not like the direction you are headed there still have time before years end to change the answers.  Here are three simple questions to help check your money habits.

What was my favorite and least favorite purchase for the year?

This is a fun question because it can quickly reveal where the fun is or is not.  Big or small these purchases are usually surrounded by stories and memories.  Some examples may include a family vacation or a good book.  You never know what the highlight is going to be, but we suggest focusing in on how you spend your money to improve your life.

Am I using my funds to build the life I want?

It is easy to fall into the habit of just spending money without moving in the direction you want to go.  For example, you may have a goal to lose weight, but you keep going out to eat every day.  Your spending habits should align with your goals.  Review the life you have and see where there is a mismatch and work on spending your money to build the life you want.  Who knows, maybe you will choose to sell the house, move into an RV, and travel.  Don’t be surprised, we have seen it before!

What will happen to my funds after I am gone?

At the end of the year it is good to review what will happen after you are gone.  Double check beneficiary information, review your estate documents that they are still in line with your life, pull out insurance documents and see that they are still needed.  Spending a little bit of time to review may help give you peace of mind that everything is in order.

Thank you again for choosing to work with us.   And as questions arise please reach out, we are ready to help!
